Fund Summary

The investment seeks as high a level of current income as is consistent with preservation of capital. The fund invests, under normal circumstances, at least 80% of its net assets (plus any borrowings for investment purposes) in short- and intermediate-term securities such as corporate bonds or notes or government securities, including agency securities. It may invest up to 35% of its net assets in high-yield/high-risk bonds, also known as "junk" bonds. The manager expects to maintain an average-weighted effective maturity of three years or less under normal circumstances.
