Find out how I make money.

I take data protection seriously. Before Minafi, I’ve worked as a developer on a number of secure systems – credit card processing, PCI Compliance, GDPR compliance and more. I take the idea of knowing exactly where your data is going and making it clear important. With that in mind, here’s a list of exactly where your data is going and what’s being tracked here on Minafi.

Where Your Information Goes

If you comment on a post your email will be stored on Minafi’s servers (within WordPress and in a Postgres cache).

If you sign up for my mailing list or create an account, your email will be stored on Drip’s server.

If you use the interactive guide when signed in, that data will be associated with your user.

If you would like your data to be completely removed from all servers, I can do that manually for you. Just fill out my contact form with “Data Removal Request” and I’ll get back to you. If you would just like to unsubscribe from the email list, you can do that from the footer of any email.

Where Your Information is Tracked

I try to keep Minafi loading fast, so there are not many external plugins running. The few that are running include:

Google Analytics, which I use to track general information about visitors which runs through Google Tag Manager.

HotJar is used to record screens using Minafi. This is used to understand how people are using Minafi so I can improve it. Recordings are all automatically deleted within 30 days.

The Facebook Pixel may be used to track your usage as well. This helps understand demographics using Minafi to better cater to what I write about.

Why is it Being Collected?

Emails are collected to continue communicating with you awesome people.

The Facebook Pixel is tracking to (someday) be able to try selling products to people who visited Minafi, or people who are similar according to Facebook. The idea is that if you’re interested in Minafi, investing, financial independence and other cool things like that, then people like you on Facebook will also be.

For Google Analytics, there’s no identifiable data at a personal level (no IP address), so I’m mostly curious on what brings people to Minafi and what they do here. That helps me figure out what I should write more about.

Who Will it be Shared With?

Emails won’t be shared with anyone. Let’s get that out of the way first.

Anonymized calculator data may be rolled up into similar results and shared in the form of blog posts, research articles, papers and other documentation. In all cases, these will be combined into groups (ex: avg salary by age) as opposed to releasing individual data. In all cases, it wouldn’t be relatable back to a person or an email address as those are stored in different systems and it’s pain even for me to look those up.

If you have any questions about your data, please let me know!
