Heard the concept on the Radical Personal Finance Podcast when I was searching for CFP material. Joshua was interviewing the OG of FIRE - Jacob Lund Fishker. His concept of Plato's cave was fascinating. Also at work one of my VPs was planning to take time off to visit her sisiter who was sick but kept pushing it off. One day the sister passed away which was truly shocking to me that someone earning 3X as me was still a wage slave

I came from a third world country to the US with only $1,000 not knowing anyone; guided only by an immigrant dream. Achieved Financial Independence in 12 years in HCOL area (San Francisco Bay Area) without any IPOs or lottery winnings; while continuing to enjoy each day.

Reclaiming my time as a result of FI has opened up many avenues for me to explore and try different options. I have explored several hobbies since FI and am still working on trying to figure out. Decided to start my blog as I noticed many of my coworkers and friends stressed out about work, finances and emergencies.

I should have focused more wrt learning about investing. Of course it was hard because I was not born in this country so had to learn everything from scratch. And while there were some financial blogs most of them were focused on paying down debt or finding bargains

Don't focus too much on eliminating lattes and clipping coupons. Learn how to leverage your career and get better at investing. If you want to make bets make sure your position size is small enough such that losing the bet would not ruin you.
